Intentional Balance

My passion has always been the body and its’ amazing ability to perform so many incredible endeavors, including the most awe-inspiring one of healing itself given the appropriate resources.
My studies started with a Masters in Exercise Physiology and from there I attended medical school. After graduating in 1996, I practiced until 2017, split between general family medicine and emergency room settings. While I enjoyed patient encounters, I was not experiencing the “healing” impact that I had anticipated when entering the field.
I began looking for alternative ways to serve my patients in 2012 when I enrolled in massage therapy school to understand the therapeutic effects of touch on the physical body. In 2013, I completed my 200 hour YTT and began my formal journey toward the understanding of something I had always known…true health MUST include the mind, body, and spirit. From 2014-2016, I worked on a Perfect Health certification from the Chopra Center, which introduced me to Ayurveda (an ancient Eastern healing science) and meditation at a foundational level. I then went on to receive my Ayurvedic Wellness Counselors certification from Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Milpitas, CA. In 2018, I was introduced to Functional Medicine, which represented, to me, the scientific explanation we require in the west, of what the ancient system of Ayurveda had taught for over 5000 years. It was very inspiring and provided hope that western medicine was evolving into a more complete and holistic study.
From here, I studied bioenergetics and became fascinated with the technology that is available to help us on the energetic level. The science of quantum physics and quantum biology is creating modalities to work with energetic disturbances and effect our health at the most subtle level. Ayurveda, in all of its wisdom, recognized how the subtle energies of thoughts, feelings, and emotions can contribute to the diseases we have not been able to treat from the western approach. Currently, I am studying holistic health and wellness coaching from the Chopra perspective. I have seen how transformational and empowering this process can be for clients.
It feels like I have taken a very circuitous route to return to my beginning premise that the human body is capable of healing itself when given the right resources. My practice now involves educating, supporting, and providing space for individuals to uncover this incredibly empowering understanding for themselves. Once they experience this power, they truly become their own best healers. I am honored to have walked this path and to now be in a position to guide and support others in their journey of self-discovery and true health.
